Aquariums, seabird habitats, marine research, and wildlife rehabilitation make this a destination in its own right, not merely somewhere to wait out rain.
National park
Follow the retreat markers at Exit Glacier

Paddle
Paddle shoreline coves in Resurrection Bay
A guided trip reaches coves, pebble beaches, and spruce shoreline at water level. The bay stays cold, so use a local outfitter and the protective equipment it supplies.

Seward’s historic center sits south of the small-boat harbor. Walk its compact streets for painted building walls, galleries, and coffee, then continue to the shoreline and Alaska SeaLife This is a useful half-day when a boat trip ends early or trail and road conditions rule out Exit Glacier.
